The Timmins Boxing Club offers both recreational and competitive boxing programs. Our keep fit, youth recreational boxing classes are aimed at anyone from 12 to 18 years of age who would like to learn the skills of boxing and achieve the fitness required in a purely recreational and social way. The sessions include bag work, skipping, pads, technique, circuits, kettle-bells, ab work etc. You will learn boxing fundamentals, self-defense, offensive and defensive drills, cardio-respiratory endurance, muscle strength and endurance in a safe and positive environment.
The youth competitive program is for experienced athletes 14 to 18 years of age, who want to hone their boxing skills for the real-deal in the ring. The competitive program allows full contact sparing in the ring with club members only or participating in other club competitions or provincial tournaments; Brampton Cup, Silver Gloves, Ontario Golden Gloves, Bronze Gloves, Ontario Winter Games. Full sparing gear, medical and competitive registration with Boxing Ontario are mandatory.
Don't forget to check with Shawn to make sure he thinks you're ready for this. It takes skill and experience to be able to get into the ring and spar even if you only want to do so with members of your own club. The final decision lies with Shawn as to whether or not your are ready.
